Getting To Know Shingletown

Shingletown (pop. 2500+) sits at the foothills of Mt. Lassen; just 30 minutes from the city of Redding (pop. 93,000).

Shingletown has two grocery store/gas stations (Shingletown store and Reeds IGA market), post office, library, medical center, an elementary and junior high school, Pioneer Pizza,  two fire departments (volunteer and Cal Fire), veterinarian, real estate offices, and a thrift store.

Just 10 minutes west of Shingletown is the “Black Butte” plaza which hosts a wonderful coffee shop: Higher Ground as well as an auto parts/repair shop, a salon and more!

The Shingletown Farmer’s Market runs in the Spring thru Fall on Tuesdays from 3pm-7pm, more information can be found on their Facebook page.

Check out the library’s event page about any upcoming events such as the Founder’s Day Parade, Community Tree Lighting and more!

Our Fall/3rd Quarter Board Meeting is TBD

As of 5/21/25 we advise you to take your own caution regarding entry to the lake. Our test results for surface water came back at a 17. They noted that the “analyte NOT DETECTED at or above the detection limit.” While it did test positive for a small amount of contamination, it is significantly under the unsafe limits (see below).
